We are pleased to be offering a fabulous quality silver 12 place settings canteen in one of the premier flatware patterns. The service provides for nine pieces per 12 place settings with a full range of serving items. All the spoons and forks were hand-wrought in the traditional manner and the knives are fitted with either best quality stainless steel blades (20) or original carbon steel (14).

Elizabethan Pattern

Elizabethan Pattern is one of the premier flatware patterns. It is richly adorned with geometric patterns and is considered one of the most beautiful of flatware designs and is illustrated on the front cover of "Silver Flatware" by Ian Pickford.

The Service

This service is composed of hand-wrought Elizabethan Pattern pieces from the premier London retailer of Garrard & Co. Garrards have been supplying high quality luxury goods from their London shop for the best part of 300 years. They have held the Royal Warrant for most of this time and continue to be "by appointment" to the Royal family. The majority of the pieces dates from 1914 and bear the makers mark of Sebastian Garrard (SG), with items such as the fish eaters, added during the 1970's bearing the Garrards mark of G&Co or the marks of CJ Vander (CJV).

This comprehensive, high quality service will cater for all your dining requirements for up to 12 place settings. The knives are a particular bonus as they are scarcely found in this pattern. 14 of the knives (7 of each size) are from the original service and have carbon steel blades that are in fine condition. The remainder of the knives are fitted with top quality stainless steel blades. There is a large selection of serving items to grace your dining table. Additionally, this service caters for your breakfasting needs with 6 egg spoons complementing the other items you might require.

Four removable trays hold the flatware and cutlery in individual slots and the base of the box holds the soup ladle and basting spoon leaving plenty of spare space for any other dining requirements - napkins, napkin rings etc. The trays have plenty of spare slots for holding more pieces should the service be augmented in the future. The box also bears the label of Garrard and Company Ltd.

All the pieces within this service are in fabulous polished condition and have a good hefty feel and balance in the hand. Virtually all the pieces bear the same engraved cipher to the cartouche to the end of the handle - the others remain blank.

Presentation

This canteen is offered in its original wooden trunk with blackened metal brackets. The box is a fabulous piece in itself and is lined with blue baize. There is no key, but this would be a straight forward job for a local locksmith if one is required.

As with all the canteens available from our web-site, we are happy to send a sample place setting for approval, on receipt of a fully refundable surety payment, prior to purchasing this canteen.
